The duo, who consist of actor Jack Black and comedian Kyle Gass, toured the UK last month, but have now confirmed a fresh batch of dates for the autumn.

Speaking previously about the album, Black said that he believed his band didn't get the credit they were due "because we're clowns" and added that he also believed his new album was superior to the recent efforts by Foo Fighters, Jack White, Gotye and Tom Waits.

He said of this: "I do love Jack White's 'Blunderbuss', I love the Foo Fighters, I love Tom Waits, his new record is incredible and Goyte. But our album is better than all of those, and because we're clowns, we don't get that kind of love."

He added: "In a 100 years' time, no one will remember Gotye or the rest, but the shining beacon of The D, they're going to start religions after us."

Tenacious D will play:

Brighton Centre (October 18)
Wolverhampton Civic Hall (21)
O2 Apollo Manchester (23)
London HMV Hammersmith Apollo (24)

'¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tré!' will be released in three stages, with the first album '¡Uno!' coming out on September 24. The second LP '¡Dos!' comes out on November 12 and '¡Tré!' on January 14, 2013. All of the albums are available to pre-order now from the band's website.

The series is the follow-up to Green Day's 2009 studio album '21st Century Breakdown' and signals a move away from the band's spell of producing concept-driven records.

To coincide with the albums' release, the band will release two documentaries. One is being made by Tim Lynch, a producer of the band's recent DVD Green Day: Bullet In A Bible and Tim Wheeler, a co-producer and editor of The White Stripes Under Great White Northern Lights and will focus on the making of the band's upcoming three albums. A second documentary is being created from vintage footage from the band's pre-'Dookie' days.

Green Day will play headline shows at Japan's Summer Sonic festival and France's Rock En Seine in August and a headline slot at I-Day festival in Bologna, Italy on September 2 as well as three shows in Germany in late August. Green Day, 'Oh Love' - review

Very sad to hear of Jon's death, following his battle with the demon cancer. One of the great musicians of my generation. Tony Iommi recently worked with Jon, and said what a lovely bloke he was. I met him a few times, but never got to work with him. Blessings.
